OVERVIEW

JP Services is looking for a Mechanic / Warehouse and Yard Technician to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for mechanical maintenance and repairs on company vehicles, trailers, pumps, compressors, and other equipment, as well as Load-In and Load-Out duties and Yard and Shop organization. This includes the safe operation of telehandlers and forklifts for loading/unloading equipment.


Position Summary:

The Mechanic / Warehouse & Yard Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational readiness of JP Services’ fleet and equipment while ensuring the shop and yard remain well-organized and efficient. This individual will support field operations through equipment maintenance, load-in/load-out duties, and mechanical troubleshooting to minimize downtime and ensure safe, reliable performance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Mechanical Duties:

  • Perform regular maintenance and repairs on company vehicles, trailers, pumps, compressors, generators, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and implement timely, cost-effective repairs.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure all equipment meets operational and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of service, repairs, and parts used.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Fleet Management on equipment readiness and repair scheduling.
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and hydraulic systems as needed.
  • Ensure all mechanical work adheres to JP Services’ safety and quality protocols.

Load In and Load Out:

  • Efficiently load and unload equipment, tools, and materials onto/from company vehicles and trailers.
  • Safely operate telehandlers and forklifts to move and stage materials.
  • Verify that all equipment and tools are secured and accounted for before transport.

Shop and Yard Organization:

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop and yard area.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and organization of tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Track and manage inventory of equipment, tools, and consumables.

Assistance to Operations Team:

  • Support the operations team by preparing and maintaining equipment for field projects.
  • Assist with the setup and tear-down of job-related materials and tools.

Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and policies.
  • Conduct routine safety checks on vehicles, trailers, and shop equipment.
  • Immediately report any safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards.
  • Wear appropriate PPE at all times.

Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, and the operations department regarding equipment condition, maintenance schedules, and repair status.
  • Provide updates on ongoing mechanical work and report issues promptly.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with mechanical maintenance and repairs on light- and medium-duty trucks, trailers, pumps, compressors, or similar equipment.
  • Knowledge of shop and yard organization best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Pipeline or industrial equipment experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of pipeline fittings and inventory control is a plus.
  • Ability to operate forklifts/telehandlers and properly secure (strap) loads.
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to track maintenance records.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate small- to medium-sized forklifts safely.
